Day one

We had a wonderful first day of walking We traveled along the Duro River heading north. Our path soon took us along the ocean beach. At the end of our walk John met us at a cafe for a final cup of coffee and a ride back to the apartment we’re staying at in Porto. Our day was filled with joy, sunshine, interesting people and beauty.

Are you planning to follow the coast or change to the Central route? Looking forward to following you. We walk from Porto on May 6.

Traditional Pilgrim Blessing

Lord Jesus, as you brought your servant Abraham from the city of Ur of the Chaldeans, guard these in all their pilgrimages, and as you guided the Hebrew people through the desert, we pray that it would please you to bless these, your children that love your name, on their pilgrimage to Compostela. Be for them companion in their journey, guide at the crossroads, shelter on the way, shade in the heat, light in the darkness, comfort in their discouragement and firmness in their purpose, so that by your guidance they would arrive intact to the end of the path and, enriched by grace and virtue, return to their houses unharmed and full of healthy virtue.
